Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 oz apple brandy (or whiskey, bourbon, or cognac if apple brandy is unavailable)
  • 1/2 oz freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1/2 oz freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 1 oz blackberry shrub
  • Crushed ice
  • Fresh mint for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the blackberry shrub by combining blackberries, apple cider vinegar, sugar, and salt in a nonmetal container and refrigerating for 1 to 2 days.
  2. Transfer the berry mixture to a saucepan, simmer for about 10 minutes, then strain the liquid through a fine-mesh sieve.
  3. Discard the solids and store the shrub in the refrigerator for up to 6 weeks.
  4. In a cocktail shaker, combine the apple brandy, lemon juice, orange juice, and blackberry shrub with ice. Shake well until cold and combined.
