Ingredients

  • 2 oz silver/blanco tequila
  • 2 oz fresh blood orange juice (about 1 large blood orange, juiced)
  • 1 oz fresh lime juice (about 1 lime, juiced)
  • 1 tsp light agave nectar or simple syrup
  • 1 tiny drop pure vanilla extract (optional)
  • 2 tsp kosher sea salt and/or Himalayan salt
  • 1 tsp brown sugar (optional)
  • Lime wedges

Instructions

  1. Mix the salt and sugar on a small plate.
  2. Run a wedge of lime around the top of the glass, then dip the top of the glass into the salt blend.
  3. Add ice cubes to the glass and set it aside.
  4. Fill a small cocktail shaker with ice, then add the tequila, freshly squeezed blood orange and lime juice, and agave nectar.
  5. Add a drop of vanilla extract if desired.
  6. Shake for 30 seconds, then strain the liquid into your glass.
  7. Garnish with a slice of blood orange, if desired.
