Ingredients

  • 1.50 oz London dry gin
  • 0.50 oz plus 1 tsp off-dry Sherry
  • 0.75 oz sugar
  • 1 oz fresh or frozen cranberries
  • 1 lemon, cut into wedges
  • 0.50 orange, sliced into thin rounds
  • 6 mint sprigs

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, bring sugar and 0.75 cup water to a boil, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Remove from heat and refrigerate the remaining syrup.
  2. Reheat the syrup in the pan, add cranberries, and simmer until they begin to burst, for about 2-3 minutes. Let it cool in the syrup.
  3. In a large pitcher, combine 2 tablespoons of drained cranberries and 6 tablespoons of cranberry syrup. Add lemon wedges and orange slices, then mash the fruit vigorously.
  4. Stir in gin and Sherry, and let the mixture steep for 5 minutes.
  5. Strain the mixture into a medium pitcher. Fill 3 glasses with crushed ice. Pour half of the mixture into a cocktail shaker, fill with ice, and shake vigorously for 10 seconds. Strain into the prepared glasses and top with more crushed ice. Garnish with a mint sprig and 3 cranberries. Repeat to make 3 more cocktails.
