  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 5 oz. red wine (I used a red blend)
  • 1/2 cup apple cider
  • 1 tablespoon cranberry syrup
  • 1/2 tablespoon bourbon (optional, but delicious*)
  • 1/4 cup fresh cranberries
  • 1/4 apple (diced)
  • Lime LaCroix sparkling water
  • Fresh rosemary sprig or cinnamon stick (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. To make cranberry simple syrup: Combine cranberries, sugar, and water in a small pot over medium heat.
  2. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer until cranberries are softened, about 15 minutes.
  3. Strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a medium bowl and let the syrup cool.
  4. To make sangria: Combine red wine, apple cider, cranberry syrup, bourbon, cranberries, and apple.
  5. Serve immediately over ice, filling about 3/4 full, and then top with sparkling water.
  6. Garnish with a rosemary sprig or cinnamon stick.
