Ingredients

  • 2 large egg yolks
  • 1.50 tbsp sugar
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • Pinch of coarse salt
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 oz bourbon
  • 1/2 oz dark rum
  • 1/4 oz cognac
  • Freshly whipped cream, for serving
  • Freshly grated nutmeg, for serving

Instructions

  1. Whisk egg yolks and sugar in a bowl until pale and thick.
  2. In a saucepan, bring milk and salt to a simmer, then slowly pour into the yolk mixture while whisking.
  3. Return the mixture to the saucepan and cook over medium heat until thickened.
  4. Pour the mixture through a sieve into a bowl, let it cool, then add cream, bourbon, rum, and cognac. Refrigerate overnight.
  5. Whisk sugar and egg whites in a heatproof mixer bowl, then fold into the eggnog.
  6. Pour into glasses and top with whipped cream and nutmeg.
