Ingredients

  • 3-4 mint leaves
  • 1.50 oz tequila (blanca)
  • 1.50 oz fresh grapefruit juice
  • 1/4 oz fresh lime juice
  • 1/2 oz hibiscus simple syrup
  • 1/2 cup fresh hibiscus flowers
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • Grapefruit zest
  • Kosher salt
  • Lime wedge
  • Mint leaves

Instructions

  1. Muddle the mint leaves and tequila in a shaker.
  2. Add several ice cubes to the shaker and pour in the grapefruit juice, lime juice, and hibiscus simple syrup. Shake well.
  3. Rub a lime wedge along the edge of a glass. Combine the grapefruit zest and kosher salt on a small plate, then rim the glass with the mixture. Fill the glass with ice.
  4. Strain the margarita into the glass and garnish with a lime wedge and a mint leaf.
  5. To make the hibiscus simple syrup, bring water to a boil, add hibiscus flowers, steep for 5 minutes, strain the flowers, add sugar to the pot, and heat until dissolved. Allow to cool before using.
