Ingredients
- 3/4 cup full-fat coconut milk
- 2 tbsp sweetened condensed coconut milk
- 1/8 tsp ground cinnamon
- 5 whole cloves
- Pinch of freshly ground nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp fresh orange zest
- 2-3 oz Spiced or aged dark rum
- Freshly ground nutmeg, cinnamon sticks, and orange slice for serving (optional)
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, combine coconut milk, sweetened condensed coconut milk, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and orange zest.
- Gently simmer the mixture for 20 minutes, stirring often, without letting it boil.
- Remove from heat and let it cool for 20 minutes, stirring to incorporate the coconut fat.
- Strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer and chill it in the refrigerator for at least an hour.
- Add rum to a cocktail glass with ice and top with the coquito mix, or add rum to the whole batch of coquito mix.
- Keep refrigerated for up to 10 days.
- To serve, garnish with freshly grated nutmeg, cinnamon sticks, and orange slices. Enjoy!
