Periodista's Delight

This delightful cocktail, the Periodista, originated at Chez Henri in Cambridge, Mass. It was initially created by bartender Joe McGuirk as part of a menu featuring Latin-inspired drinks. The drink, named after the Spanish word for "journalist," combines the rich flavors of dark rum, triple sec, apricot liqueur, and lime juice. With its balanced and refreshing taste, the Periodista quickly gained popularity and became a staple in the Boston area.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 ounces dark rum
  • 1/2 ounce triple sec
  • 1/2 ounce apricot liqueur
  • 1/2 ounce lime juice

Instructions

  1. Fill a cocktail shaker three-quarters full with ice.
  2. Add the dark rum, triple sec, apricot liqueur, and lime juice to the shaker.
  3. Shake the ingredients until well-chilled, approximately 15 seconds.
  4. Strain the mixture into a chilled coupe glass.
