Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup mixed berries
  • a few mint leaves
  • 1 tablespoon simple syrup
  • 1 shot white rye
  • a couple of drops of rhubarb bitters
  • 1 cup ice cubes
  • 1/2 can soda water

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, boil water and sugar until the sugar completely dissolves to make simple syrup. Let it cool. This syrup can be stored in the fridge for up to 2 months.
  2. Divide the mixed berries into a tall glass.
  3. Use the back of a spoon to smash the berries in the glass.
  4. Add the mint leaves to the glass and gently smash them with the berries.
  5. Pour the simple syrup into the glass (about 1 tablespoon or to taste).
  6. Add the shot of white rye to the glass.
  7. Add a couple of drops of rhubarb bitters to the glass.
  8. Add ice cubes to the glass.
  9. Pour in the soda water.
  10. Stir the ingredients in the glass and garnish with more mint leaves.
