Ingredients

  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp water
  • 4-5 fresh mint leaves
  • 3 oz Sauvignon Blanc, chilled
  • 2 oz fresh orange juice, chilled
  • 0.75 oz Triple Sec or other orange-flavored liqueur
  • 1/2 cup bite-size wedges of cantaloupe
  • 1/4 cup bite-size wedges of seedless watermelon
  • Ice

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine sugar, water, and torn mint leaves. Simmer over low heat for 1 minute, then let it cool to room temperature for about 30 minutes.
  2. Strain the syrup mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into a bowl, pressing on the mint to extract as much liquid as possible. Discard the mint leaves and chill the syrup until ready to use.
  3. In a pitcher or large bowl, stir together the chilled wine, orange juice, Triple Sec, and mint simple syrup.
  4. Add the cantaloupe and watermelon wedges, then chill the mixture for at least 30 minutes and up to 4 hours.
  5. Pour the mixture over ice in a glass, and garnish with a mint leaf.
