Ingredients

  • 3-4 fresh mint leaves
  • 1.50 oz tequila (blanca)
  • 1.50 oz fresh grapefruit juice
  • 1/4 oz fresh lime juice
  • 1/2 oz hibiscus simple syrup
  • 1/4 cup fresh hibiscus flowers
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • grapefruit zest
  • kosher salt
  • lime wedge
  • mint leaves

Instructions

  1. In a shaker, muddle the mint leaves with tequila.
  2. Add several ice cubes to the shaker and pour in the grapefruit juice, lime juice, and hibiscus simple syrup. Shake the mixture well.
  3. Rub the rim of a glass with a lime wedge and dip it into a mixture of grapefruit zest and kosher salt.
  4. Fill the glass with ice.
  5. Strain the margarita into the glass and garnish with a lime wedge and a mint leaf.
  6. In a small pot, bring water to a boil, then remove from heat and steep the hibiscus flowers for 5 minutes. Strain out the flowers and return the pot to the stove, adding sugar. Heat on medium until the sugar dissolves. Allow the syrup to cool before using.
